Mastering MTSS: Transformative Strategies for Effective Tiered Support in Schools

In 2014, an average of 1.2 million students dropped out of high school (1), leading in part to the enactment of the Every Student Succeeds Act in 2015. This legislation emphasized the importance of providing tiered support for students, acknowledging that a one-size-fits-all approach to education does not adequately meet the diverse needs of all learners.

While a variety of tiered support systems exist, a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) program empowers schools to effectively differentiate instruction and interventions based on student needs, fostering a better sense of control and capability.
